Funeral services for Alice Stevens, 80, of Mesquite are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Mr. Carl McCann officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Alice passed away early Sunday morning, June 24, 2018, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Alice was born on August 20, 1937, in Bagwell, Texas, the daughter of Ruel Jackson Parnell and Mattie Lillian Kenemore Parnell. She was raised in Bagwell and attended Bagwell and Clarksville schools. On July 25, 1953, she married Wilbern H. Stevens in Clarksville, Texas. Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her children. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling; visiting forty-eight states and Canada by driving the highways. She lived in Garland prior to moving to Mesquite in 1969, at that time she became a member of the Mesquite Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ruel & Mattie Parnell; husband, Wilbern Stevens; three brothers, Earl Parnell, Travis Parnell and Charles Parnell and a sister, Maurine Haddock.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Morris & husband, Scott, of Frisco and Amy Stevens, of Garland; two sons, Stanley Stevens & wife, Sue, of Edgewood and Ricky J. Stevens & wife, Debbie, of Paris; sister, Ruth Trevino, of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Kay Parnell, of Kansas; a very special niece that she helped raise, Patricia Rader, of Lake Palestine; eight grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Nathan, Adam, Emily, Joseph, Aaron and Tabitha; seven great-grandchildren, Nolan, Jude, Keaton, Hadley, Poppy, Pepper and Ellie; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
