Obituary

Alton Gene Cockrum, 74, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Texarkana, Texas. Born on April 21, 1951, in Kentucky, Alton lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and a spirited sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

A proud veteran, Alton served in the United States Army with honor. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an electrician and achieved the distinction of Master Electrician. His commitment to his craft spanned decades until his retirement in 2023.

Alton's heart was always with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shari Cockrum; his son, Hunter Cockrum and wife Madison; and his daughters, Ami Archer and husband Jason, and Laura Dumont. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren—Hazel, Legend, Kailer, Zara—and eagerly awaited the arrival of baby Camden.

He is also remembered by his sisters Barbara Moses, Debbie Moses, Brenda Patterson; and sister-in-law Sherry Cockrum. Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Gene and Dorothy Cockrum; brothers Windle Cockrum, Danny Cockrum, and James Cockrum; and sister Melinda Moses.

Alton found great joy in watching the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Known for being loving, funny, selfless, goofy, and caring, he had a special gift for making people laugh. Whether through playful teasing or simply being himself, Alton brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.

May the memory of Alton Gene Cockrum bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire smiles for years to come.
