Anita Evelyn Cooper passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born on August 10, 1950, Anita lived a life defined by love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Known for her feisty spirit, kind heart, and determination, Anita was a natural leader who earned the affectionate nickname “Boss Lady.” She graduated from Pleasant Grove H. Grady Spruce High School in 1968 and was admired for her ability to bring people together with warmth and compassion.
Anita shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Tony Cooper. Their lasting love and partnership were central to her life, and she was the love of his from the very beginning.
She was a devoted mother to Angel Flinn (Clarence), Tony Cooper (Merle), and Charles Cooper (Sara), and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every moment with her family. Affectionately known as Memaw, Anita loved sharing stories, wisdom, and unconditional love with her grandchildren: Clint Speed (Sarah), Rick Flinn (Brittany), Chance Cooper, Clay Cooper, Hannah Hatten (Brandon), Justin Gern, Mason Cooper, and Sydney Cooper. Her love also extended to her great-grandchildren, Cooper Hatten and Royce Speed.
Anita found joy in crafting, creating handmade gifts, and visiting Hobby Lobby. Her creativity and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Shaftner, her brothers George and David Shaftner, niece Amy Shaftner, cousin Christopher David Hutchings, and aunts Hannah Evelyn Burke and Jessie Fern Casey.
Anita is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless family members and friends who will forever treasure her love, laughter, and strength.
A visitation will be held on July 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home, 205 Corky Boyd Ave., Wills Point, Texas.
Anita’s legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
