Funeral services for Archer G. Engle, 92, of Edgewood, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Hart Funeral Home Chapel in Corbin, Kentucky with Rev. Chuck Hinton and Rev. Charles Harbin officiating. Interment will follow at Candle Ridge Cemetery in Gray, Kentucky. Local arrangements were under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home.

He passed away early Friday morning, December 5, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.

Archer was born on October 27, 1923, in Gray, Kentucky, the son of John Ed Engle and Lucille Peck Engle. He was raised in Fonde, Kentucky where he attended public school. Archer was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served during World War II. On June 30, 1947, he married Wanda Lou Harbin in Rossville, Georgia. He lived in Barbourville, Kentucky prior to moving to Edgewood in 2006. Archer was a minister for the Church of God, retiring in 1970, but remained in the ministry for fifty years. He enjoyed hunting, reading and flying airplanes. Archer was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kentucky and New Journey Church of God in Edgewood.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Wayne Engle; three sisters, Rosette Smith, Annette Gibson and Georgia Hodge and a brother, Master Sergeant Harold Engle.

Archer is survived by his wife, Wanda Lou Engle, of Edgewood; son, Glenn Engle, of Edgewood; three daughters, Sandy Hinton & husband, Chuck, of Edgewood, TX, Marilyn Willis & husband, Johnnie, of Wills Point, TX and Janet Bitzer, of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Chris Hinton, Aaron Hinton, Anissa Morrow, Lori Turner, Karri Turner, Brandon Thompson, Scott Willis and Donnie Willis and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Hart Funeral Home one hour prior to service.
