ARCIE THORNBURGH

Arcie Thornburgh (Henry), a beloved homemaker known for her unwavering courage, strength, and boundless wisdom, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1943, in Oakdale, Louisiana, Arcie was raised in Forest Hill, Louisiana, shaping the foundation of a life defined by love, dedication, and resilience.

Arcie’s journey was one of profound commitment to her family. She devoted herself to raising five children, nurturing them with the same care and attention that marked every aspect of her life. As a fantastic seamstress, she crafted each of her children’s clothes in their early years, a testament to her artistry and devotion. In addition to her talent with needle and thread, Arcie cherished reading Harlequin romance novels, took great pleasure in embroidery, and was known for her exceptional baking skills, all hobbies that enriched her home and brought joy to those around her.

Her marriage to Daniel "Heavy" Leon Thornburgh spanned more than six decades, a remarkable partnership that endured until Daniel’s passing on May 12, 2026, just eight days before Arcie’s own departure. Their enduring love was a pillar of strength throughout their lives together.

Arcie’s legacy lives on through her loving family: her sons Robert McElwee and wife Frances, and Jerry McElwee; her daughters Kathy Moore and husband Randy, and Pamela Zapata and husband Tony. She was blessed with nine grandchildren—Correna, Tulana, Chad, Steven, Natasha, Britney, Kassedi, Jonah, and Kevin—who carry forward her spirit, as well as nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, a testament to the enduring imprint of her life and love.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Daniel "Heavy" Leon Thornburgh, her parents Austin Henry and Violet Fincher Henry, her cherished daughter Elizabeth "Beth" Williams Turner, and her brother Donald Henry. Their memories remain deeply treasured.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Arcie’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home, located at 205 Corky Boyd Avenue, Wills Point, Texas.
