Funeral services for Ava Kathryn "Kathy" Johnston, 56, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. David Cartwright officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery north of Wills Point.

She passed away Thursday morning, June 2, 2016 in Tyler.

Ava (Kathy) was born February 23, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Billie H. Johnston and Laverne Beck Johnston. She had lived in Canton at the Mill Creek Group Home for twenty-nine years and for the past eight months she resided at the Phillips Street Group Home in Tyler. Ava enjoyed being in the Special Olympics, where she was on the baseball and basketball teams. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Canton.

Preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Laverne Johnston; brother, Phillip Beck Johnston; grandparents, Paul & Catherine Johnston, Henry J. & Ava Jane Beck and her loving caregivers, aunt and uncle, John & Lue Jean Beck.

Ava is survived by her two aunts, Sue Shell, of Dallas and Lucile McNeil, of Mesquite; numerous loving cousins and friends.

Ava's cousins will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Union Grove Cemetery or the charity of your choice.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
