Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Aug 25, 2026, when Barbara (Grammie) passed away peacefully at the age of 85.

Barbara was born on June 13, 1941, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, to W.L. and Deloris Hudson. Barbara would spend most of her childhood in Monticello, Arkansas, graduating from Drew Central High School in 1959, where she was a cheerleader.

Barbara attended college for 2 years at Memphis State studying accounting, occasionally skipping classes with her friends to visit Graceland, hoping to catch a glimpse of Elvis (which she did).

Barbara lived in Arkansas, California, and Texas, where most of her life has been spent. She moved to Sachse, Texas in the early 1960’s where she met her best friend Amie Smolka. Together they have made lifelong memories and had many adventures. Barbara moved to Wills Point, Texas in 1979. where she would live for many years, making even more friends. Barbara moved to Farmersville, Texas in 1997 to live with and care for her mother. She returned to Wills Point in 2010, moved to Corpus Christi in 2023, only to return to Wills Point over the summer of 2026. Wherever she lived, it was guaranteed that she would make friends and leave a lasting impression on those she met.

Barbara wore many hats in her life, from a bookkeeper and an office manager to a bank auditor and interior lighting designer, but the one she wore most proudly were the one of daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Barbara was an amazing big sister to her two brothers (Bill and Mike Hudson). The “adventures” they had growing up always made for good stories. In adulthood, they all enjoyed fishing together and gathering, reminiscing on their fond lifetime memories.

Barbara was a wonderful and devoted mom to her two daughters. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them, in childhood through adulthood. The love she had for them was definitely evident in the way they were raised.

As for her grandchildren, now that’s a different kind of love. The kids would “fake” illnesses or plan sleepovers, so they could spend time with Grammie, and of course eat all the things that were forbidden at home. Peanuts and Pringles for breakfast, cookies for lunch and there was always a can of whipped cream in the fridge for whenever they wanted a “squirt”. Grammie attended most of their sporting events, was their biggest supporter….and was definitely the loudest in the stands. As they got older, they often took her on outings and enjoyed spending the day with Grammie, laughing and making lifelong memories.

Then came the great grandbabies…..who she loved even more. Giving them rides on her wheelchair was always a fun adventure. Barbara loved to travel and read, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She always made sure that everyone knew she LOVED THEM MORE. 

Barbara was the most compassionate, caring, and loving person to everyone she met, but more importantly to her cherished family. Heaven definitely gained a wonderful angel, and the world lost a beautiful soul. Barbara was devoted to her family and friends and will be terribly missed by those she loved.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, W.L and Deloris Hudson; her brother, L. W. (Bill) Hudson; and nephew, Earl Hudson. 

Barbara is deeply missed by her brother Michael Hudson and wife Sherry of Durant, Oklahoma; her daughters, Victoria Hamilton and husband Billy of Canton, and Adrianne Danser and husband Rick of Corpus Christi; her grandchildren, Alyssa Johnston and husband Steven of Paris, Texas, Morgan Harris and husband Ricky of Murchison, Kylee Smith and husband Carter of San Marcos, Meredith Tobias and husband Vincent of Wills Point, Justin Edwards and wife Harley of Wills Point and Donovan Edwards and his girlfriend Lucy of College Station/Wills Point; and her great grandchildren, Kason Smith, Austyn Harris, Ryker Edwards and Emery Tobias; as well as many many nieces and nephews, friends and family. Barbara’s legacy of love will live on in those she loved.

A celebration of life will be held at the Round ‘Em Up Cowboy Church in Wills Point on September 5th at 10 am.
