Funeral services for Elizabeth Jane Sockwell Butler, 77, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Pastor David Cartwright officiating. Interment will follow at the Howell Cemetery north of Wills Point.
She passed away late Monday night, February 13, 2017, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, surrounded by her family.
Beth was born March 29, 1939, in Terrell, Texas, the daughter of Chester Sockwell and Elizabeth Jane Johnson Sockwell. She was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1957, where she was Salutatorian. Beth married Richard Huff and they were together for seventeen years. She later married John Butler on November 9, 1987, in Wills Point. She was formerly employed by Southwestern Life Insurance Company and retired from Parkland Hospital in Dallas in the early 1990's. She enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, gardening and watching baseball. Beth also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Beth was a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.
Preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Elizabeth Jane Sockwell; husband, Richard Huff; daughter, Kathy Huff Hair and a son, Kevin Huff.
Beth is survived by her husband, John Butler, of Wills Point; two sons, Jeff Butler & wife, Jodi, of Rowlett and John Butler & wife, Rose, of Mesquite; two sons-in-law, Michael Hair, of Terrell and Ted Wimberly, of Wills Point; daughter, Kelly Allison & husband, Steve, of Manchester, New Hampshire; brother, Tim Sockwell & wife, Cheryl, of Edgewood; sister, Keeta Lybrand & husband, Karl, of Wills Point; seven grandchildren, Casey Huff, C.J. Huff, Elizabeth Hair, Hannah Butler, Nikki Wimberly, Kaila Butler and Derek Wimberly.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
