Bobby Joe
Mercer
June 19, 1952 – February 7, 2026
Bobby Joe Mercer, 73, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on June 19, 1952, in Freer, Texas, Bobby lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and deep love for his family.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army beginning March 24, 1971. During his time in service, he was awarded numerous medals and ribbons in recognition of his dedication and achievements. His military service was a defining chapter of his life and reflected his strength and commitment.
He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing on quiet days, watching television to unwind, and savoring a fresh cup of coffee. Those who knew him remember his loving nature, quick wit, and friendly demeanor. Even through difficult times, Bobby faced challenges with a smile and an unmistakable sense of humor that brought comfort to those around him.
Bobby's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his three daughters: Mashonie Beaty and husband Robert of Wills Point, Texas; Jennifer Brand and husband Matt of Bartow, Florida; and Tiffanny Hale of Kenedy, Texas. He also leaves behind two brothers, David Mercer and Lance Mercer; one sister, Sue House; eleven grandchildren—Dusty, Cody, Victoria, Melody, Madison, Tyler, Marleigh, Malik, Malachi, Jeremiah, and Jett—and one great-grandchild, Sonny Ray.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Mercer and Wilma Atkinson; his brother William (Bill) Mercer; and his sister Sharon Stephenson.
Bobby Joe Mercer will be remembered for the warmth he brought into every room and the strength with which he lived each day. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
