Funeral services for Carl Odis James, Jr., 81, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Bro. Phillip Waddell officiating. Interment will be at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
He passed away Thursday night, April 18, 2019, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Wills Point.
Carl was born on February 3, 1938, in Santa Monica, California, the son of Carl Odis James, Sr. and Henrietta I. Nelson James. He was raised in Dallas, where he attended public school. Carl was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On May 24, 1985, he married Ida Mae Richmond in Dallas. He was employed by the Dallas I.S.D. in the maintenance department, retiring in 2000. He later worked for the Wills Point I.S.D., where he was a bus driver, retiring in 2017, due to his health. Carl lived in Dallas prior to moving to Wills Point twenty-nine years ago. In his spare time, he enjoyed fly fishing, photography, motorcycles and NASCAR.
Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Henrietta James; wife, Ida Mae James on August 13, 2001 and beloved pets, Willie and Molly.
Carl is survived by two sons, Allen Ross DeCorte, of Waxahachie and Nickie Wayne DeCorte, of Waxahachie; two daughters, Sara James Reeves, of Dallas and Brenda Kay Miles & husband, Danny, of Hubbard; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and special friends, Colleen Cox and Mutt Hallam.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to funeral service.
