Obituary

Chris Cloyce Hartley, Jr., of Edgewood passed away on February 12, 2025, in Tyler, Texas surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 18, 1972, in Circleville, Ohio, to Chris Hartley Sr. and Alice Picklesimer.

Chris spent his early years in Laurelville, Ohio. In April of 1986, at the age of 13, Chris and his family moved to Texas. He spent time in Trinity, Texas, always full of adventure and curiosity – especially when it came to keeping his mother on her toes around the local alligators.  He found his true home in East Texas where he put down deep roots for the last 35 years, he built a life filled with family, love and hard work.

He later built a career in the automotive industry. He was well known as a car salesman at Dow Chevrolet in Mineola, where he took great pride in helping customers. He never treated them as a transaction.  Most, if not all, of his customers later became family from a friendship.

On June 1, 2013, Chris married the love of his life, "SheaBabe" Hartley. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking—pastimes that brought him joy and relaxation.

Chris was a man of deep faith who gave his heart and soul to the Lord. His generous spirit and selflessness touched many lives, and he always went out of his way to help those in need. He found strength and guidance in his faith and it was evident in the way he lived his life – through love, kindness and an unwavering commitment to his family.  If you ever watched him with his family, you saw the true meaning of life. They say life is like a waterfall – most people try to speed up the river, always chasing the next big thing but, Chris had it figured out.  He embraced the journey, cherishing every moment in the river, never rushing, never taking it for granted.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shea Hartley; his mother, Alice McWilliams; his son, Chris Hartley III and wife Rebecca; daughters Lorenn Schulz and husband Nick, Alyssa English and husband Tom, Sara Fitterer and husband Garrett, Heather Gay and husband Josh, and Kaci Welch and husband Lorenzo; sisters Sandy Gorum and husband Larry, and Traci Taylor and husband Rob; as well as 14 grandchildren: Casen, Easton, Elle, Freya, Everett, Tatum, Logan, Griffin, Sadie, Chrystian, Iseyah, Aaryn, Mayson, and Ryleigh. Niece, Jordyn Taylor and Nephews, Cody Gensler,  Colten Capps and Caden Capps. He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Hartley Sr., and sister Julia Hartley.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Chris's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
