Memorial services for Velma Claudene Porter, 63, of Wills Point are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday morning January 6, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nick Esch officiating. Interment will be at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
She passed away late Tuesday night, January 3, 2017, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, in Tyler.
Claudene was born January 25, 1953, in Pasadena, Texas, the daughter of Charles Otis Gibbs and Alma Ruth Johnson Gibbs. She was raised in Pasadena, where she attended public school. On September 1, 1973, she married Ricky Porter in Wills Point. Claudene was a self-employed child care provider, retiring in 2005, due to health problems. She loved her family very much along with her dogs, Jackson, Stormy and Ginger. In her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts. She lived in Terrell prior to moving to Wills Point in 1970. Claudene was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by her father, Charles Otis Gibbs; mother, Alma Ruth Daughtry; husband, Ricky Porter on January 20, 2011 and a son, John Curtis Porter.
Claudene is survived by her daughter, Judy Marshall & husband, Scott, of Wills Point; brother, James Michael Johnson, of Evergreen, Alabama; sister, Virginia Ledbetter, of Canton; two grandsons, Scott Marshall, Jr, of Wills Point and Jonathon Marshall, of Wills Point; granddaughter, Kristina Marshall, of Wills Point; three nephews, Pee Wee Porter, of Wills Point, Rodney Porter, of Houston and Joe Porter, of Edgewood; numerous other relatives and friends.
