Funeral services for Curtis L. Rohus, 87, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home Chapel located at 205 Corky Boyd Ave., Wills Point, Texas.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Curtis, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, in Grand Saline, Texas. Born on May 9, 1936, in Wills Point, Texas, to Dwain and Dovie Welch Rohus, he was a cherished member of a large and loving family.

Curtis attended Wills Point High School, graduating in 1954. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy for two years, performing maintenance on aircraft used to train Navy and Marine Pilots at Chase Field Air Station in Beeville, Texas. His dedication to service was a testament to his love for his country and his unwavering work ethic.

After leaving the Navy, Curtis became a self-employed Master Carpenter, showcasing his craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail in every project he undertook. His work was not just a job, but a passion, and he took immense pride in his trade. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was well-respected within his industry.

Curtis was a man of many interests. He loved fishing and throwing horseshoes, finding peace in the quiet moments by the water and the friendly competition of the game. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing his culinary creations with his family and friends. His green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden, a vibrant reflection of his nurturing spirit. Curtis also had a love for traveling, eagerly exploring new places and cultures. He also loved to spend his days watching western movies and shows.

However, Curtis's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to Janie Rohus, and a caring father to Bart Rogers, Jacque Spaulding, Johnnie Looney, Judy Sims, Inez Goggans, Carla Humphries, Mona Malouf, and Bonnie Sue Papin. He was also a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in his every action, and he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones.

Curtis was known for his sense of humor, often lightening the mood with his jokes and infectious laughter. His loving nature was a beacon of warmth to all who knew him. He was a man who loved deeply and laughed freely, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dovie and Dwain Rohus; brothers Herman, Larry, and Raymond Rohus; granddaughter Krystal Poteet; and grandsons Charlie Rogers, Josh Sims, and Luke Humphries. He is survived by his wife Janie; son Bart, daughter Jacque Spaulding and husband Don, daughter Johnnie Looney and husband Jimmy, daughter Judy Sims and husband Gary, daughter Inez Goggans, daughter Carla Humphries and husband Hal, daughter Mona Malouf and husband Tom, and daughter Bonnie Sue Papin; brothers Bud Rohus and wife JoAnna, Paul Rohus and wife Pam, and Mike Rohus and wife Shelly; sisters Velvet Woverton and Carol Ishmal; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Curtis L Rohus leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to his love for his family, his passion for his work, and his commitment to service. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
