Funeral services for Herbert Curtis Wood, 91, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Pastor Jimmy Jones and Bro. Ken Hackney officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
He passed away Monday morning, January 16, 2017, at his residence in Wills Point.
Curtis was born November 13, 1925, in Brightstar, Arkansas, the son of Herbert T. Wood and Eva Mae Bankston Wood. He was raised in Brightstar, where he attended school. On December 17, 1949, Curtis married Janie Lou Brown in Bloomburg, Texas. They lived in Mesquite prior to moving to Wills Point in 1971. For twenty-two years, he was employed by J.W. Bateson Construction in Dallas and in 1982, he retired from Avery Mayes in Dallas. Curtis enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was a Mason, where he was a member of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hella Temple Shrine. Curtis was also a member of Chapel of the Lake north of Wills Point.
Preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Eva Mae Wood; son, John Stacy Wood; brother, H.J. Wood and a sister, Maxine Wood.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Janie Wood, of Wills Point; two sons, Sterlin Wood, of Wills Point and Stan Wood & wife, Kathy, of Wills Point; daughter-in-law, Judy Wood, of Rhome; three grandchildren, Katrina Clark, in Wills Point, Scott Wood, in Wills Point and Justin Wood, in Rhome and four great-grandchildren, Kristen Clark, Rebekah Clark, Preslee Wood and Rhealee Wood.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
