Daniel Lee Glenn Smith, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Edgewood, Texas, at the age of 35. Born on February 7, 1991, in Newport News, Virginia.

Daniel’s formative years were spent in Texas, where he graduated with the Class of 2009 from Edgewood High School. He was recognized for his hardworking nature and selfless spirit—qualities that would come to define the man he became. Over the years, Daniel established an esteemed reputation in his profession, working for more than a decade at Big Tex Trailers. Most recently, he dedicated his talents and diligence to Morton Salt in Grand Saline, where he was valued by colleagues for his reliability and hard work.

A man of the Christian faith, Daniel’s strength of character and caring heart were evident in everything he did. Whether at work, at home, or among friends, he was known as loving, selfless, caring, hardworking, and above all, an amazing father. Daniel relished time spent outdoors, finding joy in fishing, hunting, shooting, and “going fast”—an enthusiasm that matched his zest for life. He thrived when building things with his hands. Above all, Daniel cherished moments with his children and family, believing these relationships were life’s greatest reward.

Daniel found profound happiness in his marriage to his beloved wife, Kristine, whom he married on April 5, 2024. Together, they built a partnership rooted in mutual respect, love, and devotion. Daniel took immense pride in his children, his unwavering dedication and joyful presence enriched their lives immeasurably.

Daniel’s legacy of love and loyalty endures in those who survive him: his devoted wife, Kristine; his children Carmen, Mason, Jacob, Kyle, and Nataleigh; his parents, Tanja and Don Merliss; Father Dennis Smith. Daniel’s guidance and companionship will be deeply missed by his siblings: Brianna Burgos and her husband Bryan, brothers James Foster and Stephen Montoya; Sisters Amber Fonvergne, Adrien Merliss, and Anna Merliss. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmothers, Gerdi Foster, Shirley Smith, and Sandra Merliss; his aunt and uncle Silka and Rick Aaron; aunt Stefanie Staneart; many cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin Foster "Opa", whose memory Daniel cherished.

Throughout his life, Daniel served as an anchor of love, humility, and strength for his family and all who knew him. His presence brought light to every gathering, and the example he set—through hard work, kindness, and generosity—leaves a lasting impression on those blessed to have shared in his journey.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance during the visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home, 205 Corky Boyd Ave, Wills Point, TX 75169. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the same location, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Ellis Chapel in Edgewood, Texas.
