Obituary

Doris Karen Dugan, 66, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on March 23, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, Doris was the cherished daughter of David Houston Dugan and Doris Freeman Dugan.

A graduate of Skyline High School in Dallas, Doris went on to dedicate over two decades of her career to Consumer Credit Counseling in Dallas. Her commitment and hard work left a lasting impression on her colleagues and clients alike before she retired in 2006.

Doris married the love of her life, Rickie James Newton, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing in 2005. Together they raised a loving family that brought her immense joy and pride. She is survived by her children: sons Rickie Don Newton and David Roger Newton; daughters Doris Elizabeth Newton and Ashley Nicole Newton. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Nevaeh Munoz, JoJo Turner, Aliyah Turner, and Bronson Fink.

Doris was also deeply connected to her siblings. She is survived by her brother Chris Dugan and sister Catherine Jenkins. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother Bobby Dugan; sister Diane Jernigan; daughter Tami Newton; grandson Malachi Cannon; and husband Rickie James Newton.

A woman of faith, Doris embraced her Christian beliefs throughout her life. She found joy in simple pleasures like listening to old vinyl records and spending time with family. Her happiest moments were often spent playing with her grandchildren or engaging in long conversations filled with laughter and love. Those who knew Doris will remember her as funny, kind, caring, loving, giving, joyous, confident, and empathetic—a true light in the lives of everyone she touched.

In recent years, Doris made Wills Point her home after previously residing in Forney, Texas. Wherever she lived, she brought warmth and happiness to those around her.

May the memory of Doris Karen Dugan bring comfort to all who loved her and serve as a reminder of a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
