Obituary

Dorothy Gunia (Boykin), age 83, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on November 30, 1942, in Lone Oak, Texas, Dorothy was raised with love and devotion by her parents, Raymon and Hallie Mae Boykin. Their selfless hearts and nurturing care shaped Dorothy into the loving, compassionate, and kind woman she became.

A proud graduate of Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Class of 1961, Dorothy carried the values instilled in her upbringing throughout her life. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Charles Gunia, and a caring mother to her children: Boonchu Garrett and her husband Bret; Raymond Gunia; Anchalee Miller and her husband Larry; Michael Gunia and his wife Rafaela; and Penny Gunia. Her affection also embraced 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her family also included her brother, Mike Caldwell, and two sisters, Martha Caldwell Green and Paulette Thomas, as well as her husband Greg. Dorothy also cherished the memories of her daughters Susan Gunia and Christina Gunia, who predeceased her.

Dorothy's life was filled with simple joys that brought immense happiness to those around her. She had a passion for sewing and cooking, creating warmth and comfort through her talents. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren, whose laughter and presence brightened her days. Dorothy also shared a special bond with her beloved dog Pebbles, who was a constant companion.

In addition to being predeceased by her husband Charles and daughters Susan and Christina, Dorothy was preceded in death by her biological parents Elmer and Melvia Caldwell as well as Raymon and Hallie Mae Boykin, the parents who lovingly raised her.

Dorothy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and kindness. Her nurturing spirit touched all who knew her. May the memory of her life bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
