Edith Merle Diggs (Hunt), passed away peacefully in Greenville, Texas, on September 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 14, 1929, in Caddo Mills, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Greenville. Edith lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

On September 15, 1946, she married James Raymond Diggs in Galveston, Texas, beginning a marriage that remained a central part of her life. Edith was known as a loving, generous, thoughtful, faith-filled, friendly, and wise woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She was a longtime, committed, and faithful member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, and she was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Edith found joy in the simple and beautiful parts of life. She was crafty and enjoyed making ceramics, and she loved shopping with friends. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her love and attention.

She is survived by her son, David Hunt Diggs, and his wife, Holly. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Allan Tedford and his wife, Jamie, along with Brandi Murray, Brady Diggs, and Dawson Diggs. Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Murray, Gage Tedford, and Maddison Tedford, who were part of the family circle she cherished so deeply. She is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins. Edith’s love for her family was steadfast, and the memories she created with them will remain a lasting source of comfort and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Diggs; her daughter, Janet Tedford; her father, Herman Hunt; her mother, Frankie Terry Hunt; her sisters, Willie Jo Miller and Frances Long; and her brother, Terry Hunt.

A visitation will be held on September 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Highland Terrace Baptist Church of Greenville, 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd E, Greenville, TX 75401. A Celebration of Life will follow from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the church. An Ice Cream Social will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., also at the church, and everyone is invited to attend.

Edith Merle Diggs will be remembered for her faithful heart, her kindness to others, and the deep love she gave to her family and friends. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
