Ellen Elizabeth Day, 79, born on August 15, 1945, in Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, in Bryan, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of John E. Huggins and Tempa B. House.
Ellen earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Dallas Baptist University in 1989. A dedicated professional, she served as a manager for the Water Company in Myrtle Springs for 17 years and owned and operated the Canton Camp Grounds for 25 years alongside her late husband, Harry William Day Jr. Known for her intelligence and determination, Ellen was highly respected by her employers, colleagues, and renters for her ability to get the job done.
A woman of deep faith, Ellen was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church in Canton during her time there. She was an active participant in her community and will be remembered for her compassion, thoughtfulness, and giving spirit. To her grandchildren, she was truly one in a million.
Ellen is survived by her son, Randolph "Sonny" Carson Liebe; daughter, Margaret Ellen Louise Liebe Orozco and husband Roscoe; sister, Dianne Parks; step-sister, Vicki Dewey Walker and husband Robert; six grandchildren—Brandon Cordrey, Richard Cordrey, Kiona Liebe, Jeremiah Alderman, Shannon Heidelberg, and Randy Liebe Jr.; as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harry William Day Jr.
Funeral services will be held at Mullin Fuller Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Ellen will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Dallas National Cemetery at a later date.
Ellen's legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
