Floyd Gene
Wade
January 4, 1948 – April 7, 2025
Floyd Gene Wade, 77, of Emory, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Emory. Born on January 4, 1948, in Grand Saline, Texas, Gene lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his craft, and his community.
A proud graduate of Rains High School in the Class of 1966, Gene went on to earn a drafting degree from Henderson College in Athens, Texas. His professional life was defined by his work as a welder—a trade he not only mastered but truly enjoyed throughout the years. His hands were rarely still; whether working or tinkering with something at home, Gene found joy in creating and fixing.
On June 11, 1971, Gene married the love of his life, Vicki Wade, in Edgewood, Texas. Their union spanned more than five decades—53 years filled with shared memories and unwavering devotion. Together they built a family that was the center of Gene's world.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Vicki; two sons, Kirk Wade and wife Christi, and Kasey Wade; one daughter, Kristy Turner and husband Brian; one brother, Tommy Wade and wife Tamela; and one sister, Nancy Fenter. Gene was also a proud grandfather to Autumn Wade, Klara Nichols, Kaylee McAree, Dyllon Shuttlesworth, and Kenzie Hartsell; and great-grandfather to Margo Marie Wade. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Nina Wade.
Known for being talkative and friendly to all who knew him, Gene had a generous spirit that touched many lives. He was deeply loving—always ready with a kind word or helping hand. His presence brought warmth wherever he went.
A man of faith, Gene was a member of the Emory Church of Christ. His beliefs guided him throughout life and offered comfort to those around him.
A graveside service will be held on April 9, 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Dunbar Cemetery located South of Emory off of Hwy 19 at 421 Co Road 1301, Emory, Texas 75440, where family and friends will gather to honor his life and legacy.
May the memory of Floyd Gene Wade bring comfort to all who knew him.
The family requests all flowers to be sent to their residence.
