Gary Don Brown

Gary Don Brown, 79, passed away on October 31, 2026. Born on November 8, 1946, Gary lived a life marked by dedication to his work, devotion to his family, and a spirit remembered for its warmth and generosity.

Gary was a graduate of Lamesa High School in Lamesa, Texas, completing his studies there in May 1965. He went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in May 1970. He built a successful career in finance, working for General Electric Capital and Citi Group before retiring in 2008.

On May 25, 1994, Gary married Susan Elaine Willoughby in Washington State while the two were on vacation, beginning a marriage that would remain a cherished part of his life. In later years, he made his home in Canton, where he had lived since 2018, after previously residing in Rowlett, Texas, for more than 20 years.

Gary will be remembered as funny, kind, very giving, and generous. These qualities shaped the way he moved through the world and the way he was loved by those who knew him. Gary enjoyed studying genealogy and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Elaine Brown; his daughter, Amy Vaughn; and his granddaughter, Shelby Vaughn. The love of his family was an important part of his life, and his memory will continue to live on in them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lavert Brown; his mother, Alta Lois Burgett Brown; and his brother, Ronnie Lynn Brown.

Gary Don Brown will be remembered with love and gratitude by his family and friends, and his life will be honored in the memories they carry forward.
