Funeral services for Gary Russell Hobbs, 55, of Canton, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Bill Parr officiating. Interment will follow at Creagleville Cemetery near Grand Saline.
Gary passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Enid, Oklahoma due to a work related accident.
Gary was born September 24, 1959 in Grand Saline, Texas, the son of Harlin Hobbs and Annie Loree McCarty Hobbs. He was raised in Canton and in 1978, he graduated from Canton High School. On September 7, 1979, he married Melinda Maxwell in Canton. Gary was a farmer/dairyman for twenty-five years, welder and was currently employed by Anchor Industrial in Longview. He enjoyed smoking meat and watching TCU and Canton High School play football. Gary was a member of Cana Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his dad, Harlin Hobbs on September 30, 2007; mother, Annie Loree Hobbs on December 29, 2010 and a nephew, Gaylon "Poke" Hobbs.
Gary is survived by his wife, Melinda Hobbs, of Canton; son, Garrison Hobbs, of Canton; daughter, Brittany Gardner & husband, Aaron, of Tyler; two brothers, Gaylon Hobbs, of Elkhart and Lynn Hobbs & wife, Susan, of Galveston and three grandchildren, Greyson Hobbs, Melody Gardner and Vivien Gardner (due in November).
Pallbearers: Steve Freeman, John Brock, Jeff Brock, Randall McCarty, Bryan Monus and Jonathon Monus
Honorary Pallbearers: Ron Monus, Larry Brock and Richard Ingram
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
