Graveside service for Geneva Glyn Wheat, 87, of Wills Point, formerly of Lewisville, is scheduled for 11:00 AM Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Peach Creek Cemetery in Millican. Arrangements are under the direction of Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point. She passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2022 in a Plano hospital. Geneva was born May 2, 1935, in Bryan, Texas, the daughter of Roger Kelly Sims and Virginia Mae Lovell Sims. On December 10, 1960, she married Richard Ray Wheat in Del Rio, Texas.
She worked in the bank until she married Richard. She served as a military wife for 23 years stationed in Abilene, Tx, Hawaii, Japan, and Tucson, Arizona. She helped her husband run his business by handling all of the office work. She was heavily involved in her church. Geneva worked at vacation bible school, children's Christmas programs, and served in the ladies choir ministry. Her choir ministry would bake goods and travel to local nursing homes and the Terrell State Hospital to sing worship songs and deliver treats. They also prepared Christmas bags with socks, lotions, and candies for the residents of the nursing homes. Geneva also served at the church food bank where she assisted in stocking the shelves and issuing food boxes to the needy.
Geneva is preceded by her husband Richard Ray Wheat, her mother Virginia Mae Sims, her father Roger Kelly Sims, brother in law Jack Straley, and sister in law Anna Sims. She is survived by her two sons Richard Ray Wheat III of Wills Point, Texas and Glenn Carter Wheat of Dallas, Texas and her two daughters Tanya Hays of Heath, Texas and Stacy Wheat of California. She is also survived by her brothers Jerry Kelly Sims of Chula Vista, California, Judd Sims and wife Carleen of Lubbock, Texas and sister Mildred Straley of Meridian, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Lacey Smith, Alyson Smith, Ava Hays, Geneva Davis, Maia Urenda, two great grandchildren Presley and Daeker, and numerous nieces and nephews.
