Gordon Cleveland Wood, a beloved member of the Edgewood community, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, at the age of 96. Gordon was born on October 6, 1927, in Lamberton, Arkansas, as the seventh of eight children born to Julius Cleveland Wood and Pearl Ethel Nash Wood.

Gordon was known for his faith-filled nature and exuded wisdom and kindness in all aspects of his life. He was a man of strong character and lived his life guided by his principles. Gordon retired in 1985 from the pipeline industry after dedicating 42 years to his career.  He began his career working for the War Emergency Pipeline during World War II, which later became Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation.

Gordon enjoyed gardening and traveling with his late wife Rubye.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

Gordon was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 75 years, Rubye Janelle Troxel Wood, his parents, three sons Samuel Wood, Dwight Wood, and David Wood, as well as seven siblings. Gordon was a devoted family man and is survived by his son Doug Wood of Edgewood, Texas. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Ben Wood, Jessica Behrens, Tyler Wood, Michelle Wood, Justin Wood, Rebecca Wood, Erika Wood, and Brad Wood, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren.

Gordon was a devout and faithful member of the Church of Christ.  He found solace and community at the Wills Point Church of Christ, where he worshipped and found spiritual guidance. His faith was a cornerstone in his life, providing strength and comfort throughout the years.

A memorial service to celebrate Gordon's life will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wills Point Church of Christ, located at 302 Corky Boyd Ave. Wills Point. Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas, is honored to be assisting the family during this difficult time.

Gordon Cleveland Wood's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His faith, wisdom, and kindness were an inspiration to us all.
