James Mitchell Alt, 64, passed away on October 29, 2025, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on January 8, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, James lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep commitment to those around him.
James began his professional journey in the mining industry in Nevada, where he developed a strong foundation in industrial operations. His dedication to safety and technical excellence led him to earn multiple certifications, including Hazmat and several OSHA credentials. These qualifications opened new doors for him when he moved to Texas and joined Aramark. His skills and work ethic soon caught the attention of Wal-Mart, where he was recruited into their mechanical engineer pilot program—a testament to his adaptability and technical acumen.
Throughout his career, James was known not only for his expertise but also for his infectious laughter and kindness. He had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life and was generous with both his time and resources. Whether helping a colleague or offering a kind word to a stranger, James left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Outside of work, James found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed target practice—pastimes that reflected both his appreciation for nature and his steady focus. These hobbies brought him peace and camaraderie throughout the years.
James was of the Christian faith, which guided many aspects of his life. His values were evident in the way he treated others—with compassion, humility, and unwavering support.
He is remembered by his sons Thomas James "T.J." Alt and Jeremy Alt of California; grandchildren in California; sister Gina Wolveck of Dallas, Texas; brother Daniel Kirby of California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Jean LaLiberte and Roy Alfonso Alt.
