James Vernon Brazel, of Canton, TX, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020, in Athens, at the age of 75.

James was born on December 31, 1944, to Bessie and Carl Brazel in Dallas. He spent most of his younger years in Carrollton, moving to Canton 12 years ago. James served in the Army under Airborne Troopers receiving his Parachutist Badge in 1964. He married his loving wife, Cynthia Rose, on May 26, 2006, in Lufkin. James enjoyed fishing, gambling, and working.

To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his wife, Cynthia Brazel of Canton; daughter, Brenda; sons, Joey and Bubba; brother, Ellis Carl Brazel; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patsy Ruth, Brenda Joyce, Betty Jean and Johnny Beatrice; and brother, Tommy Brazel.

Funeral service will be privately held Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home. Visitation will be open to the public and held the same day from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Due to restrictions for visitation, we will allow ten people in the funeral home at one time during the hours of visitation. The funeral service will be privately held for the family only.
