James Ray Galla

James Ray Galla, a dedicated truck driver, loving family man, and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Grand Saline, Texas. Born on July 12, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, James's life was marked by steadfast commitment, meticulous care, and a deep connection to his roots and loved ones.

A 1957 graduate of Irving High School, James was raised in Irving, Texas, where he grew into a man known for his orderliness and careful stewardship, qualities that defined his character both at work and at home. He proudly served as a truck driver for Roadway Express until his retirement in 2001, consistently demonstrating safety, reliability, and a strong work ethic throughout his career.

James was a cherished member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Saline, where he found community and spiritual solace. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, he enjoyed dirt track racing and the uplifting sounds of gospel music, passions that brought him joy and camaraderie. He was also a committed member of the local 745 Teamsters, embracing the fellowship and solidarity of fellow workers.

On November 27, 1965, James married Gracie Lou Ellis Galla in Lake Dallas, sharing over five decades of life together until her passing in October 2017. Their union was a cornerstone of James’s life, and he continued to honor her memory with deep affection and respect.

James is survived by his sons Jimmy Ray Galla and his wife Kristen, Kenneth Howard Galla, and Kevin Wayne Galla and his wife Jennifer. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of love and strong family values. His nephew Doug Ellis and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also remember him fondly and carry with them the impact of his kindness and care.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gracie Lou Ellis Galla, his parents Jacob John Galla and Naomi Ruth Sellman Galla, and his daughter-in-law Jolynn Galla.

In keeping with James’s wishes, visitation will be held on May 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, located at 9734 FM 1255, Grand Saline, TX 75140. This will be followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. Afterwards, a graveside service will take place at Corinth Cemetery from 3:00 PM until 3:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, James requests that donations to support causes close to his heart, and he requested that donations be made to Texas EquuSearch and any no-kill animal shelter as expressions of remembrance and honor for his life.

Throughout his years, James Ray Galla embodied dedication, meticulous care, and a spirit of unwavering loyalty. His legacy continues in the hearts of his family and all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply treasured.
