Obituary

Memorial services for James Roland "Jim" Whitaker, 81, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Chaplain Richard Moore officiating.

He passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 10, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born December 18, 1934, in Jamesport Missouri, the son of Henry Russell Whitaker and Sarah Ruth Curtis Whitaker. He was raised in Jamesport, where he attended public school. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army for twenty years, retiring on March 31, 1977. On October 10, 1954, he married Beverly Jean Holbrook in Gallatin, Missouri. Jim also was self-employed in the trucking business from 1978 – 1997. He lived in Denver prior to moving to Wills Point in 1998. On September 30, 2005, he married Linda Ann Nunn in Canton. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and restoring boats. Jim was a Master Mason at Jamesport and was of the Methodist faith.

Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Russell and Sarah Ruth Whitaker; first wife, Beverly Whitaker on September 8, 2002 and two brothers, Robert Curtis Whitaker and Thomas Richard Franklin Whitaker.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Whitaker, of Wills Point; three sons, Jerry Whitaker & wife, Jane, of Wills Point, Nelson Whitaker & wife, Annie, of Wills Point and Mike Whitaker & wife, Melissa, of Wills Point; one step-son, Gary Nunn, Jr., of Frisco; one daughter, Jamie Brown & husband, Craig, of McKinney; one step-daughter, Melanie Rotenberry & husband, Greg, of Wills Point; two brothers, John Whitaker & wife, Joyce, of Layton, Utah and Henry Russell "Hank" Whitaker & wife, Merlene, of West Valley, Utah; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
