Funeral services for Jesse Clerman "J.C." Goodwin, 94, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at Turner Baptist Church south of Wills Point with Rev. Fred Cooper and Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He passed away early Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, in Wills Point.
J.C. was born November 6, 1923, in Wills Point, the son of Jesse Claudice Goodwin and Hettie Matilda Phillips Goodwin. He was a lifelong resident of Wills Point and in 1941, he graduated from Wills Point High School. He later attended Texas A&M University in Arlington. J.C. proudly served his country in the United States Army, having served during W.W. II. During his service he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal. On August 23, 1947, he married Annie Gertrude Threatt in Kershaw, South Carolina. J.C. worked for American Airlines for many years as a fleet service clerk at DFW Airport, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed working outdoors and playing the piano. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. both in Wills Point. J.C. was a faithful member of Turner Baptist Church in Wills Point, where he had been a member at the church longer than anyone else. He had served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and music director for many years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse C. Goodwin and Hettie Matilda Goodwin; wife, Annie Goodwin on July 22, 2012; twin sisters, Lois Fern Goodwin and Nell Marie Goodwin and a six year old sister Jenny Gwin Goodwin.
J.C. is survived by a son, Philip Goodwin & wife, Nancy, of Ft. Worth; daughter, Gwen Williams & husband, Bill, of Wills Point; granddaughter, Meredith Ramirez & husband, George, of Ft. Worth and a great-grandson, Joseph Ramirez, of Ft. Worth.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
