Funeral services for Jeanie Faye Barnes, 84, of Canton, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Interment is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
She passed away early Saturday morning, September 16, 2017, in Canton.
Jeanie was born April 14, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Varnie Lee Greer and Cora Geneva Balliew Greer. She was raised in the Dallas area and attended Sunset High School in Dallas. Jeanie was formerly a dental assistant in Irving. On June 19, 1981, she married Eddie Barnes in Irving. She lived in Grand Prairie prior to moving to Canton in 1996. Jeanie loved going to church, spending time with friends and family, decorating and tending to her rose bushes. She was a member of Walnut Springs Bible Baptist Church in Canton.
Preceded in death by her parents, Varnie Lee and Cora Geneva Greer; five brothers, Jimmy Greer, twin brother, Jerry Greer, Milton Greer, Shelton Greer and D.W. Greer and three sisters, Francis Beckham, Yvonne Swiger and Bea Nagle.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Eddie Barnes, Sr., of Canton; three sons, Kim Bethel, of Ivanhoe, Eddie Barnes, Jr. & wife, Donna, of Red Oak and Michael Barnes & wife, Denise, of Mansfield; two daughters, Debbie Diaz, of Arlington and Brenda Sue Baker, of Granbury; sister, Pat Hardin, of Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to funeral service.
