Obituary

Jerry Wayne Adams passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 82 in Dallas, Texas. Born on August 16, 1941, in Paris, Texas, Jerry dedicated his life to service and adventure, which was evident from his early days in the U.S. Army to his long-standing career with the Garland Fire Department.

Jerry served his country as a soldier before transitioning to a career that combined his love for flying and his dedication to public service. He worked as a flight instructor, agricultural pilot, and spent over 39 years with the Garland Fire Department, retiring as a driver in 2006. His commitment to fitness was unwavering as he worked out daily, maintaining physical health which was as disciplined as his professional life.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Jerry found joy in the skies and in the routine of his daily workouts. His passion for aviation was not just a hobby but a significant aspect of his identity that he shared with many students through the years.

Jerry was a beloved family man, survived by his son, Randy Adams and wife, Jennifer; step-daughters, Tina Cain and husband, Tony, Tanya Cunningham and husband, Sean; and grandchildren, Kolton Adams and wife, Darrah, Kash Adams, Joshua and Robin Cain, Christopher and Stephanie Cain, Brent Splawn, Hannah and Ian Pass, and Austin Cunningham. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Colton, Samantha, Hadley, Hayden, Carter, and Nova. His sister, Iva Ruth Hargroves and her husband, Bobby, also survive him. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Pearl Thompson Adams; his brother, Louis Adams and his wife of 33 years, and the love of his life, Carolyn Adams.
