Jerry Dale
Stevens
October 30, 1943 – June 20, 2025
Jerry Dale Stevens, age 81, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Terrell, Texas. Born on October 30, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, Jerry lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and hard work.
Raised in Dallas, Jerry graduated with the Class of 1962 from South Oak Cliff High School. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Mary Jean Stevens, on March 1, 1963. Their marriage spanned over five decades until her passing in March of 2018. Together they built a home and life in Quinlan, Texas, where Jerry resided for more than 50 years.
Jerry dedicated 37 years of his professional life to Alcatel as a skilled mechanic and welder. His craftsmanship extended far beyond the workplace—he was a gifted sheet metal mechanic and gunsmith who enjoyed restoring electronics and even built parts for the space shuttle. He was known for constructing deer stands for his family and had a passion for wood carving.
A man of many interests and talents, Jerry found joy in hunting and camping trips to Colorado. He was an avid target shooter and had a particular fondness for collecting pennies—always chasing the elusive "million dollar penny." Though he claimed fishing wasn't always his favorite pastime, he still cast a line now and then.
Jerry's faith was central to his life. He was a devoted member of Union Valley Church of Christ and lived by Christian principles that guided his actions as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Those who knew him remember him as honest, hardworking, loving—and yes—stubborn in the best ways. He led by example and left an indelible mark on those around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Christy Henderson and husband Don; Jane Ann Frazier and husband Jack; daughter-in-law Naulani Stevens; grandchildren Cody Henderson and wife Ashley; Cyle Henderson and wife Melissa; Cory Barton and wife Megan; Kendall Barton; Sophie Barton; Buck Stevens and wife Hanna; Michael Stevens; John Stevens and wife Savannah; Tara Meyers; and Skylar Brock and husband Jake. His legacy continues through great-grandchildren Reagan, Braxton, Carter, Jeremiah, Wyatt, Morgan, Jacob, CJ, Azariah, and Maylah.
Jerry is also survived by sister-in-laws Edna Stevens and Shirley Walters; along with a host of nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Jean Stevens; parents Thurman Stevens and Edith La Deene Turner Stevens; son Jerry Bo Stevens Jr.; brother Bobby Stevens; sister Marie Stevens; and brother-in-law Dwayne Countryman.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10 A.M. at Union Valley Church of Christ, located at 9424 FM 35, Royse City, TX. A funeral service honoring Jerry's life will follow the visitation, also at Union Valley Church of Christ. A graveside service will be at Elmo Cemetery following the funeral service.
Jerry Dale Stevens leaves behind a legacy rooted in love for family, dedication to craft, strength of character—and just enough stubbornness to make life interesting. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
