Funeral services for Joe Donald Cook, 80, of Gun Barrel City, formerly of Dallas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Pastor Don Bell, Mr. Walter Hatchell and Mr. Brad Cook officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
He passed away early Friday morning, April 29, 2016, in Gun Barrel City.
Joe was born on January 10, 1936, in Wills Point, the son of Joe Cook and Ruby Floyce Robertson Cook. He was raised in Wills Point where he attended public school. He was married to Nelda Ann Gibbons for nineteen years. Joe was a self-employed auto mechanic, retiring in 2003. He lived in Dallas for eighteen years prior to moving to Gun Barrel City one year ago to live with his brother, Gerald. He loved the church and enjoyed singing and preaching. Joe was a member of Lakeview Assembly of God Church in Seven Points.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Ruby Cook; five brothers, Floyd West, Gene West, Jack Cook, Wayne Cook and Roy Cook and three sisters, Faye Roach, Juanita Langley and Nell Cook Slocum.
Joe is survived by three sons, Stan Cook & wife, Colleen, of Dallas, Brad Cook & wife, April, of Hillsboro and Brent Cook & wife, Wendy, of Corsicana; daughter, Katharenia Cook and Dave, of Ennis; four brothers, Haskell Cook & wife, Grace, of Eustace, Bill Cook & wife, Cozette, of Gun Barrel City, Gerald Cook & wife, Gerry, of Gun Barrel City and Roger Cook & wife, Virginia, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sisters, Lois Baggett, of Arlington, Vee Jay Cook and Pablo, of Grand Prairie and Sarah Nichols, of Gun Barrel City; ten grandchildren, Clint Cook, Clay Cook, Kara Botschon, Kallie Botschon, Jessica Crase, Ally Cook, Abby Cook, Katy Cook, Bailey Cook and Samantha Cook and three great-grandchildren, Santiago, Tyler and Juliet.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
