John David Cook, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 3 rd , 2020, in Greenville, at the age of 79. John was the youngest of six children born to O.T. Cook and Martha Jane Cook (George) in Greenville, Texas on April 20, 1940. Growing up in Greenville area and in Rockwall, John loved sports, playing basketball and baseball through his youth and years at Rockwall High School where he graduated in 1958. In the early 1960s, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and was stationed in Missouri and Arizona. On October 22, 1965, he married Ms. Dorothy Jean Green of Gober, Texas.
John and Dorothy had two children, Mike (1968) and Tommy Joe (1977). They raised their family and spent much of their life in Sanger, Texas (1976-2015). John had been a member of Bolivar Baptist Church in Bolivar, Texas before moving to Mineral Wells. During his career, he worked at Texas Woman's University, Krum School District, and the Nelson Center. However, much of his career was spent as a printing press operator at the Denton Record Chronicle. John loved bowling, fishing, and was an avid football and basketball fan. He coached little league baseball, pee wee football and basketball. He also enjoyed music and was an avid record collector. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his two grandchildren Jake and Molly.
John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Jean Cook (Green); son, Tommy Joe Cook; parents, O.T. and Martha Jane Cook; brothers, Lee Cook and Ervin Cook; sisters, Sybil Wright, Veta Jolley and Frances Little. To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his son and daughter in law, Mike Cook and Jill Doyle-Cook; grandchildren, Jake Doyle and Molly Jane Cook; and many other loving relatives and friends.
ONLINE Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Please visit Allan Fuller Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be held prior to at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point. Arrangements are under the care of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.
