Funeral services for John Wayne "Buddy" Martin, 67, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Samuel Priddy officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
He passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, in Rowlett.
Buddy was born on November 27, 1950, in Wills Point, the son of John Roper Martin and Rubye Cotton Martin. He spent his entire life in Wills Point on the family farm that has been in his family since 1839. He always took great pride that the farm had been in the family for so long. Buddy was married to Sherry Crow for twenty-three years. He always raised cattle, but additionally had many other jobs as well throughout the years. After high school, he worked at the Terrell State Hospital for fifteen years and the sale barn on weekends. Buddy was a self-employed truck driver for many years. He also had a business mowing the sides of the interstate highways in this area, built fences and other farm related work. He enjoyed looking after his cattle, logging trees and tending to his property. Buddy loved his family and was dearly loved by them. He had a sense of humor and could be quite funny. He will be forever missed by all family and friends that loved him. Buddy was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rubye Martin.
Buddy is survived by the mother of his children, Sherry Martin, of Canton; three sons, Jason Martin & wife, Roxanne, of Wills Point, Landon Martin & wife, Robbie, of Wills Point and Jordan Martin & wife, Rene, of Wills Point; sister, Kathryn Martin Bingham; brother-in-law, Sam Bingham; six grandchildren, Brandon Tankersley, Andrew Martin, Brianne Martin, Scarlett Martin, Trey Gunsolus and Monte Gunsolus; great-granddaughter, Brinley Tankersley and two nephews, Martin Bingham and Taylor Bingham.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
