Obituary

Jose Luis Alvizo, 63, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2024. Born on November 17, 1960, in Walters, Oklahoma, he was a son to the late Francisco and Cipriana Alvizo.

Jose, affectionately known as Luis, spent his career as a foreman and general contractor. Luis was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, his loyalty unwavering through every season. He cherished time spent outdoors, whether it was cooking out, playing horseshoe, or bowling with friends and family. Above all, Luis was a beloved grandfather, always ready to share his love and joy with his grandchildren who knew him as Apa or Pa.

Luis was a loving and giving individual, known for his warm personality and his ability to make friends with everyone he met. His home in Garland was a hub of activity, filled with laughter, good food, and great company by all who spent their time there with him. A cherished memory they all held of Luis was his signature whistling and the playful "iron claw" with which he would come in and tickle them. This tradition was lovingly passed down to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Lauren Brittany Ulibarri and her husband Alex, Joscelyn Alvizo and her "Fren" boy Christopher Greenway, and Demi Alvizo; his son, Jose Luis Alvizo II (Joey); his beloved grandchildren, Urijah, Kyndall, Orlando, Levi, Ava, Cash and his Fur grand dog Lil'One. His brothers Marcelino Alvizo and his wife Josie, Juan Manuel Alvizo and his wife Sylvia, and Rudy Alvizo and his wife Patricia; sisters Corina Acevedo and her husband Jesus, Maria Turner, Norma Dean and her husband Mark, and Lupe Alvizo. Luis also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with his special "Fren" girls, Lisa Browning and Natalie Alvizo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Cipriana Alvizo, brothers Francisco Alvizo, Juan Ramon Alvizo, and Enrique Alvizo, and sisters Dora Reyna and Maria Cardenas.
