Joseph Henry Madden, Jr., passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on March 19, 1941, Joe lived a life marked by devotion to his family, steady work, faithful service, and a warm, gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

A lifelong resident of Wills Point, he was a graduate of Wills Point High School, Class of 1961. He went on to work as a sales representative in the food and beverage industry, building a career through dedication and hard work. He was honored with numerous sales awards and recognitions throughout his career, reflecting his outstanding performance and dedication to his profession. In addition to his career, he proudly owned and operated Reliable Coffee Service for over 4 decades – a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and dedication.

He wasn’t your average Joe; he wore many hats throughout his life, and each one represented a part of the man he was. As a local boy, he was known as Joe Rock, Morton Man, Chip Man, and Coffee Man. To those who knew and loved him most, he was Uncle Joe, Papa Joe, and, most importantly, Daddy. While each name carried its own memories and stories, it was these last three titles that meant the most and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him. He was known as a creative, thoughtful, funny, friendly, gentle, and wise man. Those qualities shaped the way he moved through life and the way he cared for the people around him.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the interests that reflected his personality. He enjoyed watching TV, drinking coffee, buying new vehicles and classic cars, and exploring the latest and greatest technology. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren, a role he embraced with great happiness. Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where his faith and willingness to serve others were part of his daily example.

Above all, Joe cherished his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Doris Madden, whom he married on August 17, 1963, in Terrell, Texas. Their devoted marriage was the foundation of a family that brought him deep pride and joy. He is also survived by his children: Kimberly Peairson and her husband Scott, Wayne Madden and his wife Melissa; Mike Madden and his wife Lori; Matt Madden and his wife Michelle.

His family continued to grow in ways that brought him great happiness, and he is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin Penney (Josh), Erica Wooldridge (Luke), Luke Pruet (Chelsey), Cassidy Garcia (Ismael), Reese Peairson, Michael Madden, MarLeigh Madden, Mason Madden, Brandon Barfield, and Bri Benton (Jason). He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Haven Pruet and Brady Wooldridge. The love he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will remain a treasured part of his legacy.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Henry Madden Sr.; his mother, Myrtle Lucy Delaney Madden; and his sister, Rita Moon. Also preceded by his beloved in-laws, Joe and Rosie Ferguson, and brother-in-law, Pvt Thomas W. Ferguson. Their memory remained part of the story of his life and family.

A viewing will be held on September 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home, 205 Corky Boyd Ave, Wills Point, Texas 75169. A Rosary will be held on September 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 702 N Frances St, Terrell, Texas 75160. Interment will be held following the Mass at White Rose Cemetery located in Wills Point.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wills Point Volunteer Fire Department through City National Bank.

Joseph Henry Madden, Jr. will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his wisdom, and the quiet ways he made life brighter for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
