Funeral services for Judd Riley Sanderson, 52, of Tyler, formerly of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Wills Point Church of Christ with Mr. Hal Hinckley and Mr. Alvis Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He passed away Friday, March 2, 2018.
Judd was born January 2, 1966, in Terrell, Texas, the son of James Riley Sanderson and Mary Ann Goodwin Sanderson. He was raised in Wills Point and attended the Wills Point schools, transferring to John Newcombe Tennis Academy his senior year in 1984. While in high school, Judd was on the Wills Point Tennis Team, and in 1983 he won the State Championship. After graduating, Judd attended Abilene Christian University and Harding University receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. On June 8, 1991, he married Jennifer Bradford in Lewisville. Judd was an Auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick from 1988-1989, Staff Accountant for Marathon US Realities, Inc. from 1989-1991, Cash and Investment Manager for the Dallas Market Center from 1991-1996, served as Business Manager for the Upper Trinity Regional Water District from 1996-2000, and has served as Director of Finance for North Texas Municipal Water District since 2000. Judd's current role was Deputy Director of Finance and Personnel, and he oversaw all aspects of the District's operations for Finance, Accounting, Personnel, and Records Management. He was a current member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas and had been involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Water Works Association and Texas Water Conservation Association. Judd was also a Board Member and served as Board Treasurer / Investment Officer of the Local Government Investment Cooperative, a Texas Public Funds Investment Pool. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and archery, as well as spending time with his dog, Rocco. Prior to moving to Tyler, he lived in Sachse, where he was actively involved in the Wylie Church of Christ. He was a member of the Texas State and USA Archery Associations, where he won several awards. Judd will always be remembered as a man of integrity and wisdom.
Preceded in death by his father, James Sanderson in 1990.
Judd is survived by his wife, Jennifer Sanderson, of Tyler; two sons, Dylan Riley Sanderson, of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Slade Bradford Sanderson, of Malibu, California; mother, Mary Ann Sanderson, of Wills Point; uncle & aunt, Dr. James & Sarah Travis, of Rock Hill, South Carolina; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bill & Clair Bradford, of Lewisville; two sisters-in-law, Terrilynne Mullen & husband, Bob, of North Richland Hills and Karen Bradford, of Flower Mound; six nieces, Sarah Hamilton, Anna Mullen, Amber Croyl, Kristen Mullen, Melissa Croyl and Deborah Mullen; other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
