Obituary

Judy Louise Duryee, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in Irving, Texas. Born on July 6, 1939, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Judy’s journey was marked by dedication, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.

A proud alumnus of Snyder High School, Class of 1957, in Snyder, Oklahoma. While in High School she was a cheerleader and a member of the local 4-H. Judy established a strong foundation that carried her through a life filled with meaningful work and personal fulfillment. She retired in 2007 from Michael’s/MJ Designs headquarters, where she served with distinction as an account team lead. Her commitment to excellence and leadership were hallmarks of her professional career.

Judy’s personality was a reflection of the values she held dear: frugality, thriftiness, patriotism, and above all, a deep love for her family. She cherished the simple joys of life, finding happiness in shopping trips to Dillards and in nurturing local wildlife, including squirrels, birds, and opossums, though she notably kept raccoons at bay. Her early years were marked by a compassionate spirit, evident in her volunteer work as a Pink Lady hospital volunteer, a role through which she offered comfort to many.

Family was at the center of Judy’s life. She is survived by her son William Anderson and his wife Stacy, daughters Sherry Ross and her husband Michael, Karen Walter and her husband Charles, and Susan Anderson. Judy's legacy also lives on through her grandchildren Ian Anderson, Keenan Anderson, Shawn White, Jordan Knipp, Ashley Walter, and Hanna Horn with her husband Marshall, as well as five great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also remembered fondly by her sister-in-law Geneva Morrison.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Duryee, who passed in 2018; brothers Melvin Morrison and Calvin Morrison; and sisters Verlyn Harris and Marjorie Cornelison. Their memories and the love they shared remain forever a part of Judy’s remarkable life story.

Her commitment to family, her community, and her steadfast spirit leaves an indelible mark on all who knew her. Judy Louise Duryee’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and the enduring strength of character. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate to know her.
