Kevin Montgomery
Merriott
March 3, 1957 – August 4, 2025
Kevin Montgomery Merriott, 68, passed away on August 4, 2025, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on March 3, 1957, in Odessa, Texas, Kevin was raised in Fort Towson, Oklahoma—a place that would shape his values and remain close to his heart throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Fort Towson High School in the Class of 1975, Kevin went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline that he carried into every aspect of his life.
Following his service, Kevin returned to Fort Towson where he dedicated many years working for Choctaw County. He also applied his skills as an industrial painter, earning the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic and reliability.
On May 5, 1989, Kevin married Roxie Renee Merriott. Their union was one of deep love and partnership that endured until her passing in July of 2016. Together they built a life centered around family—a value Kevin held above all else.
Kevin was a devoted father to his son Jerome Brown and wife Johnna; daughters Jennifer Burchfield and DeAnn Johnson. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Christopher Brown, Landen Brown, Jaylen Reich, Natalie Johnson, and Andrew Johnson. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren as well.
He also shared close bonds with extended family members including his nephew Adam Merriott and wife Shalla Laws; niece Angela Kreil and husband Curt; great-nephew Rhett Merriott; and great-nieces Morgan McFarland, Kendall Brown, and Abby Kreil.
Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Roxie Renee Merriott; parents Roy Jackson Merriott and Wanda Lou Frazier Merriott; brother Brett Merriott; and niece Amy Anderson.
A man of Christian faith, Kevin lived out his beliefs through kindness and loyalty to those around him. Kevin possessed remarkable musical talent, demonstrating proficiency with multiple instruments. His favorite band was none other than The Beatles. He was known for riding his motorcycle with a sense of freedom that reflected his spirit. But perhaps nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren—moments he cherished deeply.
Kevin's life was marked by service—to his country, to his community, and most importantly to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
