Funeral services for Leon Lyons, 70, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Cunigan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He passed away early Monday morning, August 28, 2017, at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas.
Leon was born August 1, 1947, in Wills Point, the son of L.K. Lyons and Leola Sanders Lyons. He was a lifelong resident of Wills Point and he graduated from Cartwright High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and during his service he was awarded a Purple Heart. Leon was married to Veda Hayes for twenty years. He was a truck driver for several years, working for different companies. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching western movies. Leon was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Wills Point.
Preceded in death by his father, L.K. Lyons and aunts and uncles.
Leon is survived by his mother, Leola Lyons, of Wills Point; three daughters, Leiloni Lyons & husband, Carlo Lindley, of Greenville, Keena Lyons, of Mesquite and Daphne Lyons, of Greenville; six brothers, Robert Lyons, of Wills Point, Bennell Lyons, of Wills Point, James Henry Lyons, of Wills Point, Sherman Lyons, of Wills Point, Melvin Lyons, of Wills Point and Johnny Rogers, of Wills Point; two sisters, Patricia Fields, of Wills Point and Theresa Handy & husband, L.D., of Wills Point; three grandchildren, Jarrod, Jaquon, Zariah; five nieces, Tiffany, Jeanetta, Lauren, LaToya and Lindsay; two nephews, Marlon and Robert; beloved friend, Leola Brumley; loyal friends, Sherry Ross, Jimmy Henderson, Ora Dell Howard and James Arthur Mays and a host of cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to funeral service.
