Linda Kay
Lovell
September 17, 1947 – October 15, 2022
Linda Kay (Rusk) Lovell was born September 17, 1947, the third child of William Carl Rusk and Pearl Venita (Stroud) Rusk of Wills Point, Texas. Her older sister, Carolyn Venita (Rusk) Hogan, passed away May 16, 2020. Linda passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022. Linda is survived by her son, William David Johnson of Wills Point and her brother, Billy D. Rusk and wife Ida of Richardson, Texas; and grandson Zachary David Johnson of Greenville, Texas.
Linda graduated from Wills Point High School in 1966 where she enjoyed playing the clarinet in the marching band. As a teenager, she owned a horse, "Red," which she and her many girlfriends enjoyed riding about town.
Linda married David Earl Johnson on September 16, 1966 (deceased February 15, 2009, in Dallas), and their only son, William David Johnson, was born November 5, 1966.
Soon after graduating from High School, Linda commuted daily to Richardson, Texas where she worked a midnight shift at Texas Instruments.
She subsequently worked at Western Electric, a division of AT&T in Greenville, Texas, where she installed "black boxes" on military aircrafts.
Linda also worked at the geriatric ward of the Terrell State Hospital and Champion Mobile Homes in Wills Point.
Linda attended Trinity Valley College in Terrell where she studied Nursing and later attended East Texas State University from 1991 to 1996 when she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice that led to a second career in law enforcement.
Following her graduation from East Texas, Linda was employed as a police dispatcher for the Hunt County Sheriff's Office for a short time and subsequently became a parole officer for the State of Texas, a position she held from 1997 until retirement in 2010.
After her retirement, she enjoyed shopping estate sales and operating a resale shop on Highway 80 in Wills Point. She also participated in the Annual Hwy. 80 Sale twice a year. She had many friends who frequented her business just to visit and talk.
Linda spent many hours working in her yard and keeping it neatly landscaped with numerous beautiful plants and flowers. She also loved animals, especially her dogs, George, and Sassy, whom she lovingly cared for well into their 20's.
Linda was a good cook and would prepare holiday and special event dinners for her son David Johnson, long time girlfriend Belinda Norman, friend Jeff Lipsey and many other friends. After her parents' passing, Linda, her sister Carolyn, and brother, Bill and wife Ida, would meet each year for birthday and Christmas dinners and gift exchanges.
