Obituary

Luther Dwight Oakley, 90, of Wills Point, Texas, peacefully passed away on December 10, 2023. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Martins Mill, Texas, and lived a life dedicated to love, hard work, and family values.

Luther leaves behind a cherished legacy and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Gertrude (Trudy) Oakley, and his devoted sons Garry Oakley and wife Jeannette, Randy Oakley, and Michael Oakley and wife Tanyah. He is also survived by his dear brother Dwayne Oakley, sister Mary Oakley, three adored grandchildren Chrysti, Lori, and Paula, and five treasured great-grandchildren Carsten, Marissa, Sydney, Rebecca, and Lauren. Luther was preceded in death by his dear father Newton Luther Oakley and mother Edna Engledow Oakley.

Luther received his education at Martins Mill Primary School and went on to have a fulfilling career in Metal Fabrication at Vistawall in Terrell. After years of dedicated service, he retired in 1991, leaving behind a remarkable professional legacy.

Luther found solace and strength in his faith and was a devout member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. His devotion to his spiritual beliefs brought him comfort and guided him throughout his life.

In his leisure time, Luther found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for farming, fishing, gardening, and baling hay. Luther's green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden, and he took great pride in his agricultural endeavors. As an active member of the Farm Bureau, he found camaraderie and fulfillment in his agricultural community.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Luther's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the serene Locust Grove Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas.

Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas, has been entrusted with the sacred arrangements and is honored to assist the family during this difficult time.

Luther Dwight Oakley's presence will forever be felt by those who were fortunate enough to have loved him. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, strong work ethic, and dedication to his family. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
