Malcom Lewis Hendrix, born on October 25, 1937, in Edgewood, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in Wills Point, Texas. With a life marked by dedication, warmth, and deep-rooted connections, Malcom leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Malcom was the beloved son of Wylie and Neelie Hendrix, both of whom preceded him in death. Raised in the heart of East Texas, Malcom graduated from Edgewood High School as a proud member of the Class of 1956. Shortly thereafter, he answered his country’s call to duty, serving honorably in the United States Army. This time in service further shaped his discipline, resolve, and sense of commitment—qualities that would come to define Malcom’s approach to every aspect of his life.
Following his military service, Malcom pursued a successful career as an engineer with Texas Instruments in Dallas. Over his remarkable 32-year tenure, his intelligence, ingenuity, and hands-on approach contributed greatly to his team and the projects he undertook. He retired in 1998, remembered by his colleagues as both a leader and a friend whose adventurous spirit inspired those around him.
Malcom’s personal life was equally rich. He embraced his role in the family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Hendrix, whose steadfast companionship brought him joy and comfort through the years. Malcom’s legacy continues through his children: Meleah Lamb, along with her spouse Chuck. His granddaughter, Monica Campanozzi, and her spouse Trever, as well as his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Sutton Campanozzi, sons James Love and Jarod Love and his wife Mary, a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, which all held special places in his heart.
He was also preceded in death by his son, James Malcom Hendrix; his sister, Helen Shaw; and his brothers, Doug Hendrix and Don Hendrix. Their memories remain a cherished part of his story, and he is lovingly remembered alongside them.
A man of many interests, Malcom was known for his passion for fishing and boating—pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for nature. Those closest to him often described him as intelligent, handy, and always ready for the next adventure, whether that meant mending something around the house or exploring the great outdoors.
Malcom’s life touched many, from his family and friends to his professional peers and everyone lucky enough to share in his kindness and wit. Though he has left this world, his spirit endures through the countless lives he enriched with his sense of adventure, wisdom, and unending generosity.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored by those who survive him.
