Manuel Ruben Cantu, 57, of McAllen, Texas passed away on April 30, 2023. Ruben was born in Mission, Texas on February 4, 1966, to Presentación and Armandina Cantu.

Ruben was raised in Corsicana, Texas then later moved to San Juan, Texas where he attended PSJA High School and graduated with the class of 1984.

Ruben was self-employed as an artist and enjoyed interior decorating for many years.  He spent his quality time and outings with Noah Flores, they enjoyed 22 wonderful years of their lives together.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Yoli Gamez.  He leaves behind daughter Savanah Cantu Ponce and husband, Saul; Son, Preston Cantu and Fiancée, Samantha Sanchez; friend and mother of children, Janice Linn Cantu; Three grandchildren, Bryan, Saul and Jose Ponce; Brother, Miguel Gamez and sisters, Diane Gamez Ball and husband, Bryan; Sheila Cantu Almanza and husband, Hector; Teri Cantu Puente and husband, David. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he held near and dear to his heart.

The family will hold a memorial service for Ruben at Legacy Chapel 4610 South Jackson Road Edinburg, Texas 78539, Thursday May 11, 2023.  Visitation will be from 6 pm - 7 pm and services following.
