María Luisa Barrera, 82 de Wills Point, Texas, falleció el 7 de enero de 2024. Nació el 28 de julio de 1941 en Villaldama, Nuevo León México, de Romualdo López y Clemencia Sánchez López.
María era una persona cariñosa, creativa y amigable a quien todos los que la conocieron la extrañarán profundamente.
A María le sobreviven su esposo, Julio Barrera; hija, María Luisa Mireles y esposo Jorge; nietos, Anfernee Harris y Kori, Jorge Mireles Jr. y Stephanie Mireles; hermano, Martín López y esposa Elsa; y hermanas, Antonia Calloway y Sixta Thomas. Numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas que la querían mucho. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres y hermanas, Angelina Mendoza, Tomasa Villarreal y Eva Cantú.
María dedicó muchos años de su vida como propietaria y operadora de una granja de plantas en Wills Point. Estaba muy orgullosa de su trabajo y era conocida por su habilidad para la jardinería y su conocimiento de las plantas. En su tiempo libre, María disfrutaba coser, cocinar, limpiar e ir al Casino. Le encantaba cuidar sus plantas y crear hermosas artesanías.

Maria Luisa Barrera, age 82, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on January 7, 2024. She was born on July 28, 1941, in Villaldama, Nuevo Leon Mexico, to Romualdo Lopez and Clemencia Sanchez Lopez. Maria was a loving, creative, and friendly individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Maria is survived by her husband, Julio Barrera; daughter, Maria Luisa Mireles and husband Jorge; grandchildren, Anfernee Harris and Kori, Jorge Mireles Jr., and Stephanie Mireles; brother, Martin Lopez and wife Elsa; and sisters, Antonia Calloway and Sixta Thomas. Along with numerous nephews and nieces that loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Angelina Mendoza, Tomasa Villarreal, and Eva Cantu.
Maria dedicated many years of her life as the owner and operator of a plant farm in Wills Point. She took great pride in her work and was known for her green thumb and knowledge of plants. In her free time, Maria enjoyed sewing, cooking, cleaning, and going to the Casino. She found joy in nurturing her plants and creating beautiful crafts.
Maria was a faithful member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Wills Point, where she found solace and spiritual guidance. Her strong faith helped her through life's challenges and brought her peace.
Maria Luisa Barrera will be remembered for her kind heart, creativity, and love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point. The funeral service will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton, Texas on Thursday January 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM.
