Obituary

Marie Clark, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed from this life on Sunday, September 6, 2020. She was surrounded by loved ones at home on the family farm.

Lessie Marie Woolverton, seventh of nine children, was born to Jessie and Mary Bell (Terry) Woolverton on April 9, 1931 near Canton. She grew up near Wills Point where she attended school. Marie married Earl Clark on June 30, 1954 in Wills Point. They raised their four daughters on their beloved farm just east of Wills Point. First, she sewed from necessity; soon she became proficient and made beautiful dresses for her girls and matching shirts for family outings. She also sewed over 7 years at Malouf's Dress Factory in Wills Point. Marie taught adult Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Wills Point for many years. She loved to travel, read, work on the farm and spend time with friends and family. Her dining table was typically crowded for shared feasts, games, puzzles and planning the next great adventure. Christmas Eve was a must at Grandmama's and Grandad's house. Sunday Labor Day was always family reunion day. As Matriarch, Marie knew the entire Woolverton clan and many others would be there for fellowship, food and fun.

Her loving husband of 65 years, Earl Clark, preceded her in death on May 11, 2020.

Marie is survived by: her four daughters and their husbands: Laquita and Buddy Fellers of Edgewood Jackie and Tommy Foster of Edgewood Cathy and Brian Cummins of Canton Sharon and Rand Melton of Wills Point, 10 grandchildren: Jodi (Mark) Bradley, Lance (Carrie) Fellers, Crystal (Kelly) Hawkins, Laura (Brian) Ditto, Summer (Tim) Wilson, Luke (Nikki) Sheppeard, Joshua (Mandy) Melton, Haley (Ricardo) Rios, Jared Melton, Austin (Ashton) Melton, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mildred Morgan and many other relatives and friends that will miss her greatly.
