Mark Edwin
Burge
August 22, 1959 – March 8, 2025
Mark Edwin Burge, 65, of Edgewood, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 22, 1959, in Dallas, Texas.
Mark attended Spruce High School in Dallas before embarking on a long and dedicated career. He worked for the City of Dallas Water Department for many years and also spent over two decades in the concrete industry. Additionally, he served as a volunteer fireman, demonstrating his commitment to helping others.
A man of many passions, Mark found joy in dancing—especially in his younger days—hunting with his brother Yandell and nephews Little Yandell and Daniel, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed his long phone conversations with his sister Roxana. He was an avid gun collector and had a deep appreciation for watching John Wayne movies and listening to good ol'country music. One of his greatest pleasures was listening to his niece Shelby sing country songs. He also cherished the time he spent with Shelby's four children and had a special way of affectionately teasing all of his nieces and nephews.
Mark was known for his generous spirit and laid-back nature. He was a devoted father who treasured the moments he shared with his family. One particularly memorable time in his life was the time he spent in Montana with his daughter Jenni, where he delighted in watching the sun set over the majestic mountains—a period that left an indelible mark on him. He also treasured visits with his son Mark and his grandchildren from Colorado.
He is survived by his daughter Jenni Thomas (John) of Wills Point; son Mark Burge II (Gwendolynn) of Westminster, Colorado; grandchildren Sara, Liam, and Talon; brother Yandell Burge (Loretta "Kay") of Combine, Texas; sister Roxana Burge of Mesquite; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Yandell Burge and Wanda Lou Pierce and grandparents Roland Pierce and Wanda Mae Pierce of Texarkana.
In his final act of generosity, he became a liver organ donor, extending the life of another person through this selfless gift.
A memorial service will be held on March 15, 2025, at Edgewood Community Center, located at 200 A North Crockett in Edgewood, Texas. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by an immediate family gathering from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
