Funeral services for Mary Beth Pool Hurley, 84, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Wills Point International Outreach Church with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mary Beth passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Saturday, August 11, 2018, in Georgetown, Texas and went to be with her best friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born on September 14, 1933 to Bob and Edith (Dement) Pool. The daughter of a pastor and teacher, she attended school in towns across Texas and the southern United States. After high school, she attended Southern Methodist University and graduated at the age of 19. She then taught in the Dallas Independent School District. Originally meeting on a blind date, Mary Beth married Lloyd Hurley, Jr. in 1955 and they lived in Wills Point for many years. During that time she gave birth to Frank and Eric. She was active in her church, taught in the Wills Point schools, and operated her own insurance agency. After retirement, she continued to serve her Lord and others through involvement in her church and as a prayer intercessor throughout her community and around the world. Always an easy conversationalist, Mary Beth cherished studying her Bible and sharing the love of Jesus (and stories about her kids and grandkids) with everyone she met. A guiding spiritual matriarch, family was very important to Mary Beth. Her grandchildren eagerly anticipated their monthly cards from Grandma which always had a handwritten scripture verse and extra spending money. Frequent visits and celebrating special occasions were a priority and many precious memories were made during those times.
Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, Frank Russell Hurley.
She is survived by her son, Eric Stephen Hurley & wife, Margie and her three beloved grandchildren, Alex, Maddi and Ben. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, but leaves behind a beautiful legacy of unconditional love and strong faith in God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, her trusted and constant companions throughout her life.
Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to her church of many years, Wills Point International Outreach Church (

They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.

They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn
will be lifted high in honor.
