Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Parquette (Smith), age 65, passed away on June 15, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on September 25, 1959, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Mary was raised in Cedar Lake, Indiana, where her spirited and adventurous nature began to take root.

Mary's life was marked by a deep love for her family and a passion for the simple joys that brought people together. She spent the last 25 years residing in Dallas, Texas, after previously living in Pasadena, Texas. Throughout her life's journey across states and seasons, she remained a loving presence to those around her.

She is survived by her husband Wallace Ray Smith, Jr.; daughters Jennifer Lynn Ruley and Jessica Marie Hickman; and her cherished grandchildren: Quintin D. Hays, Shannin A.M. Asbury, James Joseph Asbury, Jack Daniel Asbury, Issac Thomas Asbury, Michael George Jr., Serenity M. Hays, Braelynn Warner, Emreight R. Warner, Declan M.R. Warner, and Audrey Rose. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Ayden, Laken, Lillyonna, Ryvier, Hope, and Mary Jane. Mary also leaves behind her brother Thomas "Tommy" Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents James David "JD" Smith Sr. and Dora Marie Smith; brothers James David "Jimmy" Smith Jr. and Roger Lee Smith; and sisters Donna Thomas and Margaret Juanita Smith.

Mary found joy in the quiet pleasures of life—crocheting intricate patterns with care and creativity; baking treats that warmed both hearts and homes; solving word searches with sharp wit; and immersing herself in books that fed her curious mind. These hobbies were more than pastimes—they were expressions of the love she poured into every detail of daily life.

Those who knew Mary will remember her as loving and passionate—a woman whose wisdom guided many through life's challenges and whose adventurous spirit inspired others to embrace each day fully.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
